Aside from Escar, I have been wanting to create a Barbarian. I was looking through the subraces and found that Wood Elf would be neat. I dont have a good name for him yet.

I was thinking of at some point giving him levels in cleric, but I dont know any good (NN/NE) god that goes good with a very strong barbarian wood elf.

Help?

Take a look into the Elven Pantheon. If you don't - I will kill you.

Fenmarel Mestarine or Shevarash would be decent choices, I would think. For a pansy elf, at least.

Look into the Elven Pantheon, if you fail to notice a Black Archer... I will kill you.

Just for reiteration.

First things first: Elves can't be manly. Elves are all pansies.

As for a Wood Elf Barbarian's possible god... Solonor Thelandria comes to mind most of all. Secondly, Rillifane Rallathil and Fenmarel Mestarine.

But Wood Elves are very open people, compared to most other subraces of Elves, in terms of religion. They have deep respect and pray to Silvanus and Mielikki a lot of times. I wouldn't shy away from being open to primary or secondary worship of a Human god like those two or even someone like Uthgar or Tempus if you're going Wood Elf.

Dwarves FTW. Clanggedin Silverbeard and Haela Brightaxe.

With dwarves, if someone confuses your geneder at least it's because of muscles and prowess instead of lack of leg hair and flouncy pouncing.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say don't choose a deity yet. Have your character be a worshipper of "house gods", as they say. A little respect for Fenmarel here, a little gift for Solonor there, a healthy hymn sung on Sundays to whomever.

There are plenty of PC clerics out there who would love the chance to pitch their faith to you and try to get you to be a dogmatic follower of a specific elven deity. Give them that opportunity, IC, instead of taking it away by choosing it yourself before the character's really out of the box.

Join the Shaundakulites! We are manly and our god is the most awesome one. The Black Archer is just another pansy pointy eared emo kid.

I have never even seen this attempted.

That said there is a lot of this 'pick race, pick height, pick deity, pick eye colour' mentality - people tend to just assume in my experience.

While I agree that it's fairly rare, I have seen it . . . not just in the Triadic Knights either, but AlphaWaves Johanna has turned some of my character(s) attention to Brandobaris rather darned well, and even if they don't become a devotee, they at least pay him more homage now.

I have, and I'm not even that interactive. Sometimes you can't find anything worthwhile, and sometimes you stumble into the best RP ever. I say give it a shot.

yes people do assume, which is why I don't wear black ingame anymore...not a banite >_>

I think yoss has it nailed though, but you'd need to think about alignment, and also find the idol before level 10 if you want to change manually after you have begun your quest.

Yossarin's idea is probably the best one. As long as you leave you deity field blank, you can convert after level 10, iirc.

However, the best way to determine a deity is their background. For example, my wood elf barbarian principally follows Silvanus as his parental units were druids and he lived with their circle for a large stretch of his youth. He considers himself to be a ranger, as well.

I don't really go into my character creation with deity in mind. Rather, I decide that after I fill in their backstory.

I like the DM's idea!

I will choose no god for my characters from now on....they will have to be converted, either by their own accord, or by others.

We have had a few elves in the Order of the Flaming Blade (War Knights) along the course of the factions history, so yea, as stated above, its perfectly acceptable for an elf to worship one of the human/universal war gods. Tempus, Uthgar (Could make for some excellent RP given how racist some of their worshippers are to non-humans), or Red Knight. Just don't be surprised if one of the more tradition bound elves decide to bombard you with properganda every five seconds.

Sometimes the relationship of an individual and a deity is important. It is thematically critical. It is relevant to the person's story. But most of the time it isn't and shouldn't be. When you post on the forum asking people to tell you whom to worship, it is clear that the deity is not necessarily important to your concept, so it is a factor that can (and should!) grow organically in the setting.

EDIT: Also, I commend you for taking my sage advice! It shall serve you well, ere you adventure!

One of my characters pays homage (kind of worships) to a Goddess that he knows will not accept him. He's been abandoned by one God, and rejected by two others, one of those being the one he pays homage to. He also found another one that fits his train of thought but She will not accept him either.
It's an RP thing. Run with it.

I've noticed how everyone has mentioned steering the idea away from any form or inkling of Sheverash. Because you're all lame.

Yeah, because worshiping a god that has a creature made specifically for eating members of your race is sooo appealing.

I'm glad to see this is out there too with someone other than me. I have one of these characters and I was wondering how weird it was.
