Right, i'm planning an evil character. I was thinking Dark Mage/warrior?
I have no idea what would work for this. Wizard/Rogue? Wizard/Fighter or barbarian? Or Sorc/..Monk?
I'm no builder and have little clue... any help appreciated. Combination suggestions aswell as feat/spell suggestions.

What do you exactly mean as "dark mage"? I see you have already done a palemaster so maybe necromancer is outta the question?

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=49052&start=1700Necromancer: 30 wizard/sorceror and dark clothes. You can mix in one bard for tumble/umd dump if you plan on wearing that elf no-arcane-spell armor/shield. Epic spell focus evocation/necromancy, metamagic feats (extend, maximise, silent). One or two great INT depending on subrace to get even INT at level 28/29/30. Greater ruin, mummy dust for a summon. Can't do much wrong, really. Spellsword: 17 sorcerer 12 cleric 1 rogue. No epic spells, +4 divine favor and divine power awesomesauce, no decent summon. Divine might/shield. IMHO the only proper 'spellsword' build, but its an absolute bitch to level. Warrior: Cleric/Blackguard or something like that. For that refer to the link above, since I never played a BG.

By dark mage I mean evil magics but not the usual necro/palemaster. More just malicious powerful attacks and curses/hex's? And I want it somewhat combat able if you get my meaning. I like the look of the spell-sword thing but as you said its hard to level, i'm quite terrible at that as is. Never had a level 30, eh heh. As for cleric levels that would mean inclining the evil character to a deity, which while great to me seems to make some characters seem like imitations of each other? Thankyou so much for the help though ^^ I'll still look into it

Melee Bard/BG/something for you then, a death singer! Awesome concept. A harbinger of bad luck bestowed from Beshaba. Holy vengeance and dark farewell songs from Hoar! Soothing songs from Shar for the grief stricken. Poems of madness by Cyric. Praises for the Tyrant Bane! Tales of Velsharoon's crypts! Endless options.
BG needs a fiendish supporter, so much possibilities for character background and motivation.
Curse song in its most literate form. Ask the experts in the build forum.

Taking the levels in that order? Or Fighter first and then mix it up?

Death singer is some randm homebrew class name that I think got mentioned once offhandedly in one sourcebook and Amians latched on to it like they do with novels. >.>
The actual class is called "Dirgesinger". Not that you need to refer to yourself by a class name, but hey ho.

No, it was a character in the Starlight & Shadows series (also by Elaine Cunningham, but not the Danilo ones). Elaine herself said she didn't intend to create a new PRC or anything, or so I seem to recall reading from an interview. And that character had nothing to do with any existing PRC, nor was it supposed to be some Drow cultural norm. Just the flavor of that one NPC. There is one documented bardic Drow tradition, the one that mixes bardics with clerical magic and is introduced in the WotSQ series.
But yeah, Hexblades are cool.

yup build thread.
I think monk could work well with sorc, mainly for armour and melee, i'm not sure what everyones obsession with bard is here, a dark wizard brings thoughts of necromancers, or negative energy specialists, or summoners, which an epic sorc/wizard would fit nicely, albeit with less ab and some reliance on buffs/the monk levels to back it up.
then again with umd bard trumps rouge, and dark artifacts availiable for use through umd are applenty, which sounds like something your after. I guess it boils down to how much warrior and how much dark mage do you want?

It's cleric with his hand in the mage-cookie jar and needs to be spanked like the disobedient child it is.

Ah, but on topic. When I hear "dark mage", Warlock comes to mind for me. Not really the PnP representation of one, as that's not doable in NWN perfectly, but a caster that has strong ties to Demons or Devils, makes pacts with them, learns from them, and is obsessed with power.
Naturally, I think Sorc/BG, with more BG coming into play the more melee prowess you want and more Sorc the more spell power you want. You get some decent BG levels in, you would probably be able to pull off something fair in both, which is what Warlock is supposed to be anyway from my experience. Mainly a disabler with a lot of tricks up his sleeve.
In other words, for sorc take a good number of debilitating, enchanting and draining spells, field control things like Web and Grease too and on the BG side might and shield for some added melee standing.
I'd be really interested to see what a near-even split between those two classes would look like. Maybe throw in a little bard or rogue, but the end result would seem like a fun thing to play, IMO.
