Who cares? Amian festival, it's not like Amia is bound to any traditional lore or anything.

Everyday on Amia, people are exposed to necromancy, undeath, demons, devils, psychopaths, murderers, wizards, witches, and the suprenatural.

Halloween is called every-freakin'-day, man.

But in all seriousness, some sort of masquerade ball and festival seems like the closest thing you'd find in the setting and time period.

You might see a few DMs run "Halloweenish" plots or something, but I really doubt if we'll ever be seeing anything remotely like Halloween as an IC holiday.

I remember a few years back when I were new this was done.. Doppelgangers popped up and players were fighting players and doppelgangers, not sure which one was right.

I remember Nas nearly got killed by Gillaria and another, when they thought he was a doppelganger

This is correct, because last Halloween, one DM (I forgot who =/) made mass zombie invasions. They were everywhere. They rose in the she-kats, the Amia frontier, the coast, etc.. It was awesome. IT was the perfect zombie apocolypse because there was literally, -masses- of them.

Can i use this as an excuse to summon lots of undead and invade small towns..?

True. I always laugh at kids who come to my door thinking people in Finland celebrate Halloween.

And oddly none of them can answer why they should get lollies on Hallowe'en.

the starting room still offen gets changed for Halloween and X-mas.

the dale festival was on a solstice day which is a real life holiday >_> then again it wasn't themed on irl stuff.

also i'm guessing people are thinking trick or treat halloween over the more historical actual meaning of the day, which brings thoughts of necro's if anything at all occured ingame. it wouldn't exactly feel right if its just a 'normal' day. not that there is such a thing on amia.

Ugh, if you want a bunch of fan fare from RL holidays go play WoW. They do a ton of stuff.

Just to say, I'm not talking about the -modern version- of Halloween. IE "TRICK OR TREAT!"

I mean just something along a celebration of the dead, a festival honouring their memory, or even a masquerade sort of deal. One of the more traditional ordeals.

I always liked the Buffy/Angel Halloween spin: All the true evils took the night off because it was just silly, sad, or lame for them to be seen out on that night.

On Halloween, I could care less what Amia does. I'm always too busy giving candy out to kids (No, not poisoned candy, sickos.), getting in costume and then going out to raise the dead 'til who-knows-when. Some of you people should really get into the spirit.

It's worth doing if Dwagin does Saruman again.

Now, is there a -Halloween- in faerun? No, nor are there most holidays, however I can almost assure you you'll see an odd rise in undead or occultly things IG when Halloween rolls around.

(Even if it -is- only done subconsciously by the player base.)

Um... I'm pretty sure I can state with 110% certainty that the undoer has absolutely nothing to do with the Gulf Oil Spill and that what oyu said is just really creepy and smells kind of like Truthers do.

I watch alot of conspiracy stuff ._.

But I was pretty sure I had a DM tell me the black goop in the lake was an easter egg for those keeping up with the BP stuff. D:

With the amount of freak characters on Amia you'd think every day was a halloween.

Anyway, if you're looking for a festival of the dead, that would be The Feast of the Moon. At least, as far as non-religious-based holidays widely celebrated by the masses go. If you want individual relgion-based holidays, you'll have to look into the deities' specific entries as denoted in the sourcebooks (Faiths and Pantheons, for the most part).

Midwinter

Greengrass

The official beginning of spring is a day of peace and rejoicing. Even if snow still covers the gournd, clerics, nobles, and wealthy folk make a point of bringing out flowers grown in special rooms within temples and castles. They distribute the flowers among the people, who wear them or cast them upon the ground as bright offerings to the deities who summon the summer.

Midsummer

Midsummer night is a time of feasting and music and love. Acquaintances turn into dalliances, courtships turn into betrothals, and the deities themselves take part by ensuring good weather for feasting and frolicking in the woods. Bad weather on this special night is taken as an omen of extremely ill fortune to come.

Highharvestide

This holiday of feasting to celebrate the autumn harvest also marks a time of journeys. Emissaries, pilgrims, adventurers, and everyone else eager to make speed traditionally leave on their journeys the following day - before the worst of the mud clogs the tracks and the rain freezes into snow.

The Feast of the Moon

The Feast of the Moon celebrates ancestors and the honored dead. Stories of ancestors' exploits mix with the legends of deities until it's hard to tell one from the other.

Shieldmeet

Once every four years, Shieldmeet is added to the Faerunian calendar as a "leap day" immediately following Midsummer night. Shieldmeet is a day of open council between the people and their rulers. It is a day for making or renewing pacts and for proving oneself in tournaments. Those not seeking advancement treat the elite's tournaments, duels and trials of magical prowess as welcome additions to the holiday's theatrical and musical entertainments.

(from Faiths and Pantheons: Shieldmeet is known as Cinnaeloscor, or "The Day of Corellon's Peace" to the elves.)

To add to Khylaria's post (which is the only one answering the OP, damn you all!):

You have to remember there is no mass media or global culture on Faerûn. The few widely celebrated annual festivals are based on important astrological points in the cycle of the year, which gives them universality. And you can be sure that, despite the sketches in source material about what happens on those days, the festivities vary from one place to another. Shieldmeet in the rural Dalelands is certainly different from Shieldmeet in the capital of Halruaa.

So yes: there are probably dozens of festivals dedicated to the dead, to appeasing ancestors and to driving out restless ghosts. But they're probably quite different and take place at different times in different lands.
