If you're referring to the war knights, it's not really us who started that. It was the whole scenario I posted back up a few posts.

Here

Then again, you have a free license to do whatever you want IC, but keep it there.

Also, Darthion didn't just create conflict RP. He created all kinds of RP. Did alot for the server that people take for granted, and now is banned from these forums because he posted his own balance suggestions to the public or something and got flame baited by Wonwon but only one got banned.

If you or other players feel the need to dispute a ban, please messgae Disco, Nekh, or Lally regarding it,and it will be handled there, instead of bringing it to the public forums. We have a standard policy of not bringing these discussions public for various reasons. Thank you.

I won't even go into what "a few sailors in a boat" were able to accomplish.

@Needled247: But that's what a mean, a lack of respect for a group. Enough so that you didn't look up the dogma. Turning down a duel is considered cowardly to a War Knight, but they will generally leave be. But then ganging up after the duel has been turned down and attacking without warning is considered dishonorable and an insult. Had your group had the respect enough to find out such things, you could have avoided the War Knights being dragged in.

But not just us. The Horsemen probably wouldn't have been involved if the Banites hadn't attacked them. A few necromancers from Tarkuul wouldn't have been involved had you not attacked them. Hin would have stayed out of it, but you hadn't attacked them. Same goes with the grove. The elves wouldn't have stood for it, but it wouldn't be the first time the grove argued with Winya's stance. Half the alliance forces would have been gone in a number of seconds had the Banites not attacked every random adventurer that came by.

Lots of groups wouldn't have been involved if just a wee bit of recon was done.

I think you're getting one side of the story, and the wrong side, in almost every case.

I don't think so. Given I was the one in charge of getting together most of the groups the Banites had pissed off, and it was my plan to use the shear number of completely aggravated adventurers as half the alliance army, I'm pretty sure I know why they joined.

A few sailors in a boat, plus about 50 PCs, so many that we had to password the server in order to make sure everyone could be there, as well as the culmination of months of work. Please do not discredit the amount of work the other PCs put into it, just like we don't discredit the work you put into getting there in the first place.

The thread does sem to have run its natural course, and is now sort of devolving back into pot shots at DMs for events that happened a long time ago. I'd like to makr the request that the topic be funnelled back into constructive conversations, and even better, funneled into constructive work in character, instead of talknig about the forums of daysgone by, and rose tinted glory days. If everyone took half the time theyspent arguing on the froums, and applied it in game (myself included), I have a feelin g most every one of these problems would probably solved themselves.

I will not lock the topic, but I would like to see the discussed veer away from repetitions of the same arguments that come up in every topic, and that energy channeled towards new, constructive solutions, and how evil can function on Amia going forward, both as an entity in itself, and recieving aid from DMs in pursuing their goals insomuch as facilitating their actions is.

n.b. Calin/Selvec was at the event himself, so to say he only has one side and the wrong side is a bit disingenous. No side is "Right" or "Wrong", and neither side should be painted as such. Hewas simply one of the PCs on the outside fo the castle, so he has valuable insight into the work that side, just as you were on the side inside the castle, and you have valuable insight on the work that went into that side. to dra wna OOC line in the sand and say "you got one side, the wrong side", is the wrong way to go about moving forward and seeing how the server cna be made more complete.

No it's fine. I let myself pull up something that was in the past and I should just let lie.

I apologise for that.

Tormaks right, I don't know both sides. I may like to think I know both sides, but I don't.

I don't think there is any place that is easily accessable where evil characters can engage eachother and begin to network, at least not in a social fashion. The Cordor Underground is probably the best place where you would think this kind of thing would happen, but there are reasons why that place doesn't work very well (the cover charge for one). I would like to see that cover charge removed, and maybe keys made for those locked areas near there. There is too much potential for that area, but it's far too inaccessable.

Nope. Drow area, and thus not suitable for what he means, unless he wants to constantly be considered as less then a Drow, which I can't imagine most evil people going for.

Abyss though is probably more appropriate, also Tarkuul.

They all suck.

Reason: They are all not very accessable. Most won't gather in any of these places.

They fit your criteria of easily accessibly places that allow evil to mingle and network. I was not given a list of conditions by which to name areas that do not, in your opinion, "suck". I am sorry that my list of areas thta are easily found and evil tolerant all "suck", but I would suggest you give them a second glance. You asked for places evil can meet, and I gave you half a dozen of them as well as a general suggestion of "pick an off to the side hideyhole, so that way it's nt even public and in town and no one has anywhere big to point."

Takruul: Accessible as easly as level 3. Difficult, but a single invis potion. To be conservatve, we will say level 5.

Wiltun: You can make it your very first log in into the server.

Edonil: Admittedly a mostly Drow place. you may substitute this with L'Obsul if you like, it is more geenrally Underdark and less specifically Drow. Probably the least accessible of the places.

Underport: I would surmise thta by about level 10, you could reach this place. Porbably much much earlier if you tried.

Shadowscape: Accessible at level 3. You may take the spawn free roads nito the Amian Forest and then enter the spawn free path to the Shadow Rift.

Zanshibon: You may spend gold to charter a boa tto Forrstakkr, then to the Gnomish Testing Range, and be at Zanshibon at... we will sya level 5 and be conservative. You had to hunt a bit to get some gold beyond your necessities spending.

"Anywhere lese": Obviously dependant on where your anywhere else is.

"Not accessible" and "No one gathers there" are not related conditions, in my mind. And there again, you're seeing the circular logic. No one gathers there. Why does no one gather there? Because you're busy sitting on the forums saying no one gathers there. So no one gathers there.... etc etc. So start going there and suggest that other like minded people do so as well.

Wiltun is the most accessable, yes, but it really isn't very secretive or exclusive. The rest I understand you think are accessable, I just disagree for the most part.

I would strongly disagree with this on all accounts. What exactly do you mean by accessible? having a darker character. The places above that I don't already have slotted, I Could get to pretty easily and quickly. I've done a fair good of my rp in these places.

I thought we were trying to argue against exclusivity? (See argument Re: why Tarkuul doesn't work: "It is too exclusive, and so not suitable as evil place") So how is Wiltun not usable on the grounds that it's not exclusive? I'm not really sure what you're looking for here, I suppose. I believe all hte places I named are suitable as "evil networking areas". Perhaps Wiltun isn't somewhere you wlak in, order a dead baby casserole and wash it down with virgin's blood, but evil characters could certainly shoot the breeze there and probably be well enough left alone, assumnig they're not talknig about killing the Jarl in his sleep openly or something.

Why do you disagree that they're accessible? I will concede that Edonil and L'Obsul are indeed not very accessible to the aaverage surface evil, and Underport may not be quite the surfacer flavor, but that still leaves the other four places I named, as well as "pick any random spot out in the module".

And even if you do want to have your baby noms casserole, there's the abyss. I do believe they serve it there.

Zanshibon needs more love from chaotic and neutral evils.

It is the one place that the good aligned factions are unlikely to dare or bother to invade even if you hide there after eating their families.

Hell's, Gagis would probably be torn to shreds by the locals in minutes if he ended up there undisquised in some event.

The Cordor Underground is a good area, but is too exclusive (it's far too exclusive [rich folks only]). I think this area needs to be the spot for a lot of evil characters to mingle.

The taverns and such are nice because you can meet other characters, I'm trying to emphasize this aspect with reguards to an area that is easily accessible.

A bit of exclusivity is good, and location is key. There are a lot of areas where evil folks can get to, but nobody else will be there.

I want to see a room filled with darkly-dressed characters that is populated at almost all times.

It needs to be a RP hub to work. None of those places are for various reasons.

Except Wiltun, but Wiltun has nothing (currently) to draw evil folk and dissuade good folk.

Build a City then? Start with a main Fort in the middle, then begin building villages and towns around the outskirts. Then build a wall around the main part, and so on so forth. Only problem i can foresee there, is 1. Getting Permissions, 2. Getting beseiged by Good Guys, 3. Large amounts of resources and 4. Leadership.

I might've agreed that there was a problem with alot of the other things in this discussion, but this is hardly one. This is where equality is just about level. If you're mad because you can't talk about killing people in the middle of Cordor streets then go to Wiltun with your gang. That's what we did.

And to say evil has no sort of invincible city is just wrong. Tarkuul is invincible and so is Kohlingen. This is _EXACTLY_ what Darthion posted about the last time this thread came up. He posted a complete list of good vs neutral vs evil cities. Your problem might be that you're only allowed in one out of the three, and good or neutral are allowed in all three.

Anyways, if you want evil to succeed, you have to open your mind as a DM team about "what is good and bad" for the server, and just let them do a well designed plan, if they have one, every once in a while. It's not like whatever they do won't be restored or rebuilt just like amia forest. An official OOC 'no' is just lame. Some plots they might have are lame, and you might not agree with. But they also would create roleplay for the whole server if you let them happen.

I think the problem is not so much the lack of a place for evil to meet up, but the overwhelming presence of good and neutral style RP. You roll a new character, you get into some RP, and suddenly it's hard to stop your character from doing nice things because it's all around you like bloody pollen.

A meeting place is neither here nor there. The problem is a lack of a credible NPC threat for evil PC's to rally around.

Good PC's rally around Kohl or Winya. Evil PC's are on their own.

I could do the toolset work, I love the good ol' Arorour (sp?) toolset, I make Mods for fun all the time. Now all we need is an evil faction to work around...

EDIT: And permission

That seems like a OOC issue to me. The player himself giving into his characters surroundings. You need to fight it! Go against the grain, and stop tring to make everything so smooth.

I'm not talking about places where factions group up nesesairly, but a place for the non-good to mingle.

I would be happy if the Cordor Underground was re-worked so that it isn't as exclusive as it is. As it is now, it's just a waste of space. My characters would love to hang out there, but paying 5000 gold to get in is completely lame.

What are the various reasons that the half dozen places I listen do not work, and what are the reasons that evil people can't simply go "sod it all!" and start to meet there ANYWAYS, destroying reason and creating RP all in one fell swoop? I pint again tot he circular logic that seems to be running around here...

Wait wait wait. Wait. Wiltun doesn't work because it's not exclusive and it's apparently all too inaccessible (even though you can make it your very first log in of the server and every PC has a free bind), but paying 5k gold is too exclusive, but accessible? Inside Cordor, the place you guys often says is way too good aligned? I am very confused. Please make a post stating your exact conditions for a place which is suitable for "Evil networking". With that knowledge I can help direct you to a place in the module that will help you carry out your desires, but please realize that if I do such, writing off my entire list with a grandiose "no, all those places suck" won't be appreciated. I am genuinely trying to help here, but I'm being metwith vague denials and circular logic. I need to know what makes you tick here.

I can't help but feel like you are a bit confused as to how the DM team works, and in the end I can't be (and won't be) bothered by that, because you can't see the DM forums, so you can't know the discussions that go on in our entire subforum dedicated to nothing but events, PC and NPC. Suffice it to say, we do not dump evil PC's stuff to the highway, just like we don't dump good guys' stuff. However, the things evil PCs do tend to be decisively more difficult. Whereas a good guy group wants to consecrate a place and maybe expand it a bit, the bad guys want to pillage an existing place, destroy all current wards, recruit new guards to man it, bribe the surrounding areas, reconsecrate to evil, put up a large citadel in the center, and then expect their influence rolled out everywhere in a 5 mile radius. There's a big difference in IC difficulty in those, and I hope you can see that by what I describe. A lot of times, when evil wnats to head into a new area, it wants to "start from scratch". That's fine, but it's implicitly more difficult to tear down and fully rebuild rather than just tinker with what you've got, especially when the people don't like you vs people being fairly neutral or liking you.

In the end my point comes down to this. You say there's nobody in these places, and then you don't go there yourself. It's a self fulfilling prophecy. The evil players need to collectively decide some evil place to begin meeting, and then start hanging out there. I see this "Coalition of Powers" topic. This is a perfect way to disseminate IC information about where a new discussion place should be, be that Zanshibon (which has tavenrs), Shadowscape (which has tavenrs), Tarkuul (which doesn't have taverns but is an EVIL SENTIENT HALF POWERED NETHERESE CITY HELLO THERE IS YOUR CREDIBLE NPC THREAT, OR IT CAN BE WITH PC HELP), or even Wiltun, which has tavens, may no be totally evil, but would work great as a way to track who comes in and out of places and also has living people you can talk to. I hear Arsant Wiltun is a pretty cool guy if you just pay your taxes.

A lot of us "Evil" people are banned from Cordor, making getting to Cordor Underground quite difficult without a DM to watch us.

Some of the best Evil RP I did was in Wiltun

It's not even just pillaging that's decisively more difficult. It's getting any sort of reaction from the DM team that preconceived plots can happen. I'll admit that towards the end of my Banites reign, I stopped trying and stopped caring about developing the latest and greatest plot ideas. This was due to a few factors which I can't help but stress that it's part of the reason it's not fun.

1) We roleplayed an excellent plot to attempt to attack Cordor with something very smart, and actually devoted alot of time to it ingame, and had DM input and what not, and in the end, we get an OOC no, and an IC note that makes absolutely no sense from NPC's not even on amia.

2) We decided to take over Gulduroud. We spent all of that time trying to win over the citizens. We failed completely. But instead of roleplaying that with us, we were instead just completely ignored. Months and months of just wasted effort. Thanks for telling us after the fact that "they hated us." As if we couldn't already have figured that out after all that time. 762 mentioned earlier that one day, someone logs on and rallies the whole town against us by themselves and it's a convicted terrorist. That's more interaction than we probably saw period. Just saying. I'm not asking to win, and I personally would've been fine with anything other than being completely ignored for four plus months.

3) We built that castle. Gurth sent in some requests for basic wards that would exclude the use of ridiculous tactics like portalling in and doing something corny; the very thing you seek to prevent with *blows stuff up* *rebuilds it* *takes sign down* *puts sign back up* but after about twenty bumps and four months, the DM team declines the whole thing right before or after they decide they're going to take on the "coalition" to blow up the Banites.. but wait.

4) We had this insane plan to attack the red knights. We spent months planning this, seriously. I had a DM oversee us sneaking in and getting all of the plans to their grounds. I sat there and came up with battle strategies, possibilities, and so we went. We were surprised when we sent someone in to buy mercenaries to clear their way around the swamps, which seems like a completely reasonable thing to do, when the player was awaited by half of the server who saw right through the disguise, and somehow already knew we were there, when the only people who even knew about the event IC were three people, until we were marching... I never got any sort of explanation as to how the whole server didn't metagame there. The whole plan we had was twarted, and instead of creating roleplay for both DM's and players, it just turned into a PvP bloodbath, and hardly any RP. There's nothing that can be done at that point. FUBAR when the whole server is sitting there waiting to fire their bigby spells at the baddies and be like GOTCHA. Not to mention they all started whining after they died. Not like anyone made them come there... ICly anyways.

5) We played hinball, and we got the attention of Bendir Dale. The mayor came out, and we killed him with blood spilled on both sides. We took him to the underport to turn him into an undead so he couldn't get true ressurected. So, if I remember correctly, we succeeded and then hid him in a cabinet that was a secret compartment that was locked. The whole server yet again decides to team up and invade a house and we kill them all, except one person who was there for a total of about 5 seconds and somehow managed to find the undead hidden in a cabinet. Not to mention the fact that we arbitrarily get summarily kicked out of Underport after this event. I understand that they don't want problems in their city, but why are they letting surfacers attack their buildings? isn't that metagaming the illithids?

Anyways.. if you read all this crap and want more, I got plenty. You wanna know why evil is boring. Tada.

I believe you can get there without worrying about being seen by any guards.

I do go to these places.

Too many places, and none of them centeralized. None of these places are a Hub, save for Wiltun. The problem with Wiltun is that it makes less sense to have the evil guys hang out there than say...the Cordor Underground. The Underground is in Cordor, and this is a good thing. It is accessable due to its location, but exclusive to only those who care to throw away 5,000 gold every time they walk in.

Just eliminate the 5000 gold cover charge. That may be enough to get evil characters to mingle there.

Every time they walk in?? I don't know about you but I've never lost my Sanctuary of Sin key, I've only payed 5000 once and I get in every time.

So make one of these places a hub. As said, this "Coalition of Powers is easily a perfect way to disseminate this information. Pick one, and 'hub' it. I admit I am now confused again. First your complaint was that there are no suitable evil places. Now the complaint is that there are too many places and none of them are centralized? Please put forth a full list of criteria that an are a "must meet" to become an evil socializing area and I'll do my best to help.

I don't remember this offhand. Could you please PM me some references I could use to look up the event in the DM forums or other forums so that I can reply to you with a more complete answer?

There were DMs assigned to help you in Guldorand. I was not one of them, so I can't and won't speak for them as far as their efforts went to helping you in the city. I'm sorry if you felt ignored. It wasn't intentional, I can promise you this. guldorand does indeed hate the Banites, and was predisposed against them before you came there, as well. Regarding "Someone logging in, rally" etc, they were an issue in Cordor, and a long time resident of Guldorand, so their status in Cordor doesn't much matter and their status in Guldorand does, since we were speaking aobut guldorand and not Cordor. It was not only one PC though, it was about half a dozen. Again, there were DMs assigned that were suppposed to help you on your things. I won't speak for what they did.

We didn't "Take on" the coalition any more than we "took on" your castle. We're the environment and the facilitators. Regarding your wards request, that was absolutely us dropping the ball and I can say this with certianty since most of those bumps wer emine and Yossarin's, and yet no conclusive answer could be given. That we didn't get you an answer until very late and just before the castle went down was coincidence. There wer emany factors at hand that delayed the decisons behind your wards and our lethargy (or the lethargy of a few of our elements) was indeed one of them. I apologize for what I can and we will o our best to rectify it going forward.

If this is the situation where you attacked the War KNight Tmeple, then I wasn't there and I don't know the full situation behind it. I assume the War Knights might be able to give you a more complete picture, or, since Peeves was the DM presiding over that event, he might be able to give you a more complete answer as well. I hope you are ablew to find an answer to this, and I'm sorry that I don't immediately have one for you.

This was indeed a bit messy on all sides. I'm not aware of the 'secret compartment' bit since I didn't DM that, I do recall seeing a bit of the PvP though I think. The Banites were kicked out of Underport afterwards because (if I recall correctly) the Illithids were irritated that their presence was bringing do gooders and issues and rampant violence to their streets. They had no issue with your presence until it became a fulll on detriment to Underport and what it does, and the Illithids surmised that people coming to try to wreck the joint every so oftne because Banites stayed there and were known was too big of a risk to take.

The last line I don't appreciate much. You sell it like a big conspiracy, like you have "dirt" and you're the messiah spilling it all. IF you have problems with the DMs, I suggest you take it up with Lally, since she has graciously offered to be mediator for this sort of thing. Bringing it public is gonig to bring hurt feelings on both sides, and worst of all, potentially discourage future RP from happening because "Well, I saw this on the forum." That's probably the worst thing that could happen out of it all at the end of the day, and I'd like to reiterate my "if we spent half the time on the forums arguing, in game and RPing, most problems would solve themselves" remark I made a bit ago.

I apologize for answering you in public, I guess, but you are indeed the one that brought up nearly half a dozen issues into public instead of settling it with the DMs. I hope I was able to provide answers for some of your concerns, or at least, an avenue you can pursue to ge tyour answers. I don't promise that the answers are the ones you want or the answers your looking for, but I do promise thta I will at least help you to try to find the answers.

@Tormak - First example, you can answer that by scavenging far into the Banite forums for the plot to Zhentil Keep for post event supplies. That was actually the minor straw, considering we were already given an active OOC "no, it won't work."

There is no conspiracy. Noone is out to get me. Though, I must admit, I'm fairly surprised that you answered my rather crude complains with such good PR. Given past experiences with "Mimiron was bitching me the fuck out" when really, I hadn't even said a word. So, you'll understand why I'm reluctant to PM Lally any problems. But anyways; Everyone is human, and I'm just saying that it's an immovable hunk that is too hard to get the engine started. If a DM provided positive or negative feedback during countless attempts to do something, it would've been about six thousand times more rewarding either way the outcome went. That's all. There was a point where we had 15+ Banites online at a time and we still couldn't get any single DM to run anything for us. I understand you all are busy people and all that, but how exactly are we supposed to get anything that requires DM interaction done. That's kind of my point. We exhausted alot of the plots we had, because alot of the time we were just waiting. Sure, we also went and did things that impacted the rest of the server in the meanwhile.

The chicken just stated a bunch of changes that correlate to that exact gripe, but I don't see how that's going to be possible unless you get more DM/player ratio and you start getting DM's who aren't afraid to run something minor without having the fear of a cataclysmic impact on the server. It's like for whatever we tried to do, for something as little as controlling NPC's in Guld, we logged on every single day, posted tons of threads, and got something like two posts back from the DM team on the forums that were fairly inconclusive and may as well have been completely neutral from a development point of view.

Those types of issues will never get resolved, PM'ing them to Lally. I've PM'd stuff to DM's numerous times, maybe not you Tormak, but the only real responses I ever get come from Gers, Maias, and Mahtan. Noone plays this game to serve my complains, and I understand that. I would actually really like to see Amia improve, and I really am trying to indicate that the best way to do that is to have gutsy NPC interaction by DM's who may not be "assigned" to a player faction. Yes, I know it sucks when DM 1 does X and DM 2 does something to reverse X, but with little things... all we were ever looking for was a new part of the thread to follow. Also, if you don't actually know the answer to the War Knights thing, I am eager to get a PM or proper explanation from someone who does know.

All that aside, you did answer alot of those gripes, and maybe I should post some more. It may give me e-peace. After all, this is still just a game, and people will only play when they're having fun, and to please everyone is mathematically impossible.

Well then I am corrected. I guess nobody likes the Sanctuary of Sin then. Too bad, it's a good location.

I guess there is no solution.
