Was wondering if xp for kills is based on level at 1 to 1 ratio, meaning not in blocks of (x) so a level 3 gets more then a level 4, a level 10 get s more then a level 11?(it seems to me it was in blocks of 4) sometimes I am sure the ecl is def added into this. Also as far as level cap, if you are a drow you can only go to level 28, tiefling 29?

Not much knowledge on the whole mathematics on xp myself. However yes, if you are LA +2, such as a Drow, and LA +1 such as a Tiefling - you can still effectively reach level 30 - except it will be shown as 28, or 29.

Your ECL is taken into account at all times. So, even if your character sheet shows 10, your drow character will gain the XP for a kill that a level 12 character with an ECL of +0 would. Also, yes a drow (or any other +2 ECL race) can only go to 28 actual levels and a Tiefling (or any other +1 ECL race) can only go to 29 because if you add the ECL to the character, they hit 30.

This also applies to the five-level party cap. If you're ECL+2, you actually have to party with PCs 3 class levels below you to 7 class levels above you.

I think Amia has a sound ECL/Level cap that appeals to the masses, but man, as a personal preference would I like to see +2ECL races penalised 50 percent xp and be able to get 30 aswell as being platinum rewards over the current system? The answer is yes.

If it would let me get 30 on Xal, I'd like to see that put in place myself Moshing.

Well, what was the story about that Tiefling who hit 30 by pure chance because no one expected anyone to get the neccesary XP with only 1 xp per kill?

If such happened, would there be any reason to play anything but ECL races? I mean, even if you cut xp by 50 percent, you'd still only use 3-6 weeks getting to thirty, with all the juicy extra bonuses that follow being an ECL race. But if DM approval was required to get to 30, then maybe..

or DM approval to play Planetouched?

I think that was Ryriska, and yeah - those single xp's eventually add up.

Too bad I take risks and respawn so often that I stay quite close to 30 all the time. Otherwise Gagis might have reached that already as well.

I think the trick is to hold level 29(ecl 30), and kill stuff untill you're halfway to 30 - Then you level up, and kill like 15.000 Kobolds...

Or just wait untill you start getting 1 xp, then take your 30.th level, and go kill 1 goblin. But I'm pretty sure we dont even get a chance to pick lvl 31, hopefully..

..No. You cannot hold a level more than 50% of the next level.

Example
You are level 20, You're holding your level.
You will stop receiving XP when you're 20 and a half.

And then when you go past your ECL, we delevel you.

Because then we delevel your character 15,000 levels and ban you fro trying to blatantly exploit the system. It doesn't work.

How come 'grinding so many mobs till you hit level 30 on an +1/+2 ECL race is considered Exploiting? For all i know, That's just Old char who hasn't died very much that happens to have killed enough mobs to level up.

If it works, it works - Your job is to De-level them again. There's no need to Rage about it.

It is an exploit because 29 is your max. Period.

There's no 'Period'.
If it happens, If happens, You don't ban because somebody has a really old char and happens to have killed enough mobs for 1XP, You Inform them that they should be level 29, and de-level them.

Everything else is trigger-happy.

When you stop telling people ways to get around the ECL cap I'll stop coming down hard on it.

It does work, though (unless it was fixed, but nothing seems to indicate that). You can't twist that fact. Saying otherwise is outright incorrect. Whether or not you're supposed to do it or keep that level is a completely different issue. An issue which, I might add, is probably dead obvious to anyone reading this topic.

Well i think it's irresponsible and dubble-sided to threaten people with the ban hammer for having killed 'To many mobs', when there's much more severe things that should invoke a Ban.

What is being said here is if you kill enough monsters to reach level 30, take that level and walk around as if nothing has happened, it's a punish-worthy offense.

If you give a shout on the DM channel saying that you've reached 30 and the level-up dialogue is bugging the hell out of you, we'd be happy to remove that XP. There's a difference between grinding a lot and intentionally trying to abuse the system.

If you take the level you cop the ban.

Even I knew what Tormak was saying.

I'd like this, too... but my kneejerk reaction to jump up and down in my chair if it was made so is so strong to it that it simply has to be broke like Tormak said.

As far as I recall should you automatically be deleveled when you hit over your level cap, or go any higher at all. I faintly recall Tormak mentioning something like that, don't quote me on that though, I probably am wrong on that part.

Yes that was me.

Needless to say, I of course immediately informed the DM's and this was fixed.

I did however make a screenshot first for coolness faktor.

If this isn't already implemented, I know it can be. There was another server I tried out that would de-level you if you tried to take a level in X class without having 3 levels in your previous.

Shouldn't be too hard to delevel if you hit level 29 etc

It isn't hard, but it's really the matter of time spent putting that there into the level-up script in comparison to how often it crops up... which isn't very often at all, as you can imagine.

he prolly meant that you reach ecl 30, but it shows 29 or 28 levels in your character sheet.

Which is exactly what he said. ECL = Effective Character Level. You can reach Effective Character Level 30 is pretty much the same as saying you can effectively reach character level 30.

I think the part "it shows 29 or 28" can be misunderstood.
