Prob a strange question, but IMO an important one.

If i or another gains a Arcane spell an is coded using the new hak spell slots, can it actually be scribed an passed on to others ?

As i would want to be able to "seed" my knowledge to the worth sort of thing.

No, because it's coded to work off your PCkey.

Gahhm, that's disappointing, i was hoping to being researching new spells icly in the Magistarium an being teaching them to students, but if its a dc request each time its to expensive for everyone, when instead each of of us could make a request an share our knowledge with each-other, seemed just the kind of wizidy thing to do.

Is there any way this kind of thing could be facilitated without independent request for the same thing costing lots of Dc each time ?

Well with the new policy, you know you could pool your DCs, as long as whoever is getting the new spell pays at least half(rounded up).

Still cost DCs, but not as much as it might seem at first, if you're working as a group and don't mind sharing.

As much sense as it makes IC just to go "*hands a scroll* Here, learn this", DM's should still get a chance to see and OK who the spell is being "transfered" to, just because it wasn't originally approved for them.

i agree to an extent, but at the same time no.

if the players has achieved the knowledge of that spell then they should be able to pass it on. perhaps there is another request required after the rp ? less DC an the stamp of approval i guess makes sense. with supporting RP screens of learning the spell from someone.

The point of DC items is that DCs are spent on them. You can teach the spell to others but they will need to pay the DCs.

Yes at the -same- price. Sorry but I wont agree to say one of you getting mass petrification and then the rest getting it at a discount for instance.

Yups. That's how handing custom bard songs and etc works as well. Been policy for years, sorry.

I imagine though that the RP in teaching it could go towards the RP requirement.

But.. yeah: DCs costs are DC Costs.

Good to have the answer, thankee folks!

It's likely a balancing thing. As DC requested stuff, such as a custom spell, generally outranks normal gained stuff. Which means if someone requests a spell that is pretty powerful then trades it to another wizard, and another wizard and another wizard, it becomes a bit of an issue in terms of server balance. Eventually the entire server suddenly has "GSV2, Now with casting ability!" as a normal spell.

i had foreseen this problem, but ultimately anyone with the dc an the rp could still obtain the spell if they wanted to, its just a matter of cost.

I would gladly fork out DC for custom spells,. but i each cost 12-15 each it will limit those who can afford the trade, an those who are willing to donate etc.

tho this limit defiantly has its upside, making the knowledge harder to obtain.

I still think it is a wizards right to trade his spells, an if its not an epic spell i should be able to scribe it.

Having said all that, server policy is server policy so NP an thx again.

oh DC spells are usually alot more than 12-15 DCs.

Scribe scroll or not, it would diminish the RP the people behind the spell had originally spent to learn and be able to use it. Regardless of how you phrase it. The same goes for several other abilities a character might obtain trough DCs for instance, that can be passed on with the proper knowledge.

I have two chars with fairly powerful DC abilities that they can technically teach to X, where X is a group of people close to their own powers/race/etc etc. And if anyone wanted to try and learn it, it is only fair they also need the DCs for it.

I'm pretty damn sure most mages on Amia would be pissed if my archer started teaching everyone with a bow how to silence mages, or my shifter teaching every other shifter how to turn into slime so you can escape virtually anything anytime anywhere.

Using learning from other players as a way to go around the DC is both lame and being a quite bad sport. I would suggest however that you use learning from other players as something to fill the RP REQUIREMENT part of requesting the same DC spell.

Call it unfair or whatever you desire, but it's a pre-requisite for something powerful or just plain cool. Bards can't just hold up a paper with the notes for stormsong for instance and magically teach other players the spell. They have to go trough alot of roleplay for it WITH DMs involved etc etc. Same goes for The Book of Vile Rituals for the BGs. One BG handing it to another and saying "Go summon" won't really work there either, nor do I think the DMs will be happy kittens if the book is handed around for that purpose. Same goes for all other abilities on amia that need to be given trough either DM approval or a request. Dcs fit the latter and the cost is there for a reason.

Just roll with it, yeah?

It's always been X + scripting fee.
If no added scripting needs to be done, the fee should be done away with, or at least a discount is justified.

Policies can and do change.
Just like the price of wings and tails.
Just like how RP is mandatory for all requests now.

Nope its Price + Scripting Fee + DM balance discretion.

If you want to teach a custom spell/song/ability to someone then the scripting fee translates into DM balance discretion because now two related characters gain a powerful (usually) ability. Either that or we increase the balance discretion cost exponentially of the power requested for every character that wants the exact same ability with the "But X taught it to me".

DC rewards are rewards, but the bottom line is its DM and Developer discretion on how much these cost you.

You can argue as much as you want but that is how it is done.
