There is one very noteable anatomical difference, being that dragons have a specific elemental organ, which halfs do not possess.

Thanks for the great information. Very much needed.

I guess the son Elrein already has, should be seen as an adopted redblooded kin, taken under her wing. Which could be a logical step.

The rest - well, let's just say she's infertile.

On the subject of Dragons, would it be likely for a White dragon to live somewhere in the brog wilderness?

ooc there we're, five dragons total on the last count. was a fair while back when I asked if there was a wild blue one, related to past rp. I have seen three of them and none we're white. apparently there are more "dragon like creatures" if you catch my drift, "somewhere". and no I don't mean wyverns.

ed: I believe tormak listed about 7 but a few we're already known to be very much dead.

Oh aye? It's just I'm thinking of requesting a half white, just trying to get possible ideas on where the dad comes in, I was thinking a lone female adventurer passed the dragon by, and rather than simply sucumbing to his animalistic hunting urges as most Whites do (or have I misinterpreted the Draconomicon) decided to polymorph and mate with her. I was thinking of having that happen somewhere in the brog wilderness'd be cool. But if there's no Whites lurking there then I'll dig around elsewhere.

There are 6 dragons on Amia's server and none of them have offspring. Of those 6 only 3 would really be capable of it anyways.

On a Lore viewpoint - do white dragons really rape indiscriminately? That sounds awful.

It could be possible still in Brog. Look at EDK. The spell doesn't limit you to only specific dragons. Have a mother that was wealthy and capable of casting the spell and a White may decide to mate. Also, try page 56-59 of Races of the Dragon. Page 59 even includes some keypoints you can raise concerning a half-white's temperament.

I have a character who's into summoning Devils(Not demons). On the point of bartering and having devils enter Toril, How does it work exactly?

I suppose it doesn't work as just casting gate and getting a random demon? I mean, If you want something that's Powerful, which you can strike a decent deal with, to actually reward you.
It's no use to just call a wretched little quasit and attempt to barter.

How do you summon something Mighty?

Generally, to summon something specific, you need it's name. Either the one it goes by, or it's true name. The latter makes the binding far more powerful, but the former can be used to get a specific creature. Otherwise, I think you'd just call to the "type" of creature. Call a osyluth to get a bone devil, etc.

As for the bartering... if you have a fiend's true name, you can probably force it to serve. Otherwise, you can offer it freedom from your binding circle in return for services, exchange of information, bartering, or other such things. Remember, if you call a fiend into a properly constructed summoning circle, it cannot leave it, nor can it attack something outside of it. It's quite literally bound, so being released from it's bonds (even if it's just being sent back to Hell)is generally a pretty good bargaining chip. IIRC, devils generally do not like being summoned, as it's pulling them away from their idea of paradise. Demons on the other hand, revel in the opportunity to wreak havoc on the Prime.

Hm. So it could actually be a good deal to release a demon onto the prime, if you think of the Deal aspects?

-"Give me what i want, and i'll release you on this prime!"
Sadly, I suppose it's not so willing to assist you once it's released thought.

Q - Can you release demons on the prime and send them after other people?

Eh, releasing a demon on the prime is generally a bad idea. Demons love to kill mortals. Guess who the closest mortal to it will be once it's released? That doesn't mean it can't be done, or that it hasn't been done before. As for using a demonic assassin, you'd probably want a bound demon. A "free" demon is just as likely to ignore your orders as carry them out, given they're chaos incarnate. Or turn on you. Or any other number of unpleasant alternate scenarios.

I pretty much agree with gers, would just like to add lorewise forgetting to cast magic circle against law/chaos/evil beforehand, in the case of demons/devils, would result, lorewise, in exactly that.

there is infact even an actual book ingame that explains this in better detail, I would recommend finding it rather than trusting the above =)

ed: said book would answer the next question too I believe, it is rather detailed. wouldn't want to spoil it for you.

But how on earth do you persuade a demon/Devil/Outsider to act as your assassin, what spells to use to bind it to your service? I understand the true-name stuff, But afaik - I don't know of any spells or books that spill out true names like a slotmachine.

What's the deal with Resurrection? I just heard from a source that it makes you age 3 years everytime you cast it.

I've never heard of that rule. It's certainly not for Resurrection of True Resurrection anywhere I've seen it.

After all, it really wouldn't make sense. You're restoring their body to the way it was at the moment before they died(albeit at full HP), why would they all of a sudden be 3 years older? If that were the case, you could bring someone back through Resurrection and then they could die of old age.

IMO Whites are far far more likely to just kill or maim any foodstuff.. it might have funtime but more than likely wouldn't let it live because they prefer to nom on frigid food. Least likely to unf unf anything that wasnt another dragon, or critter and let it live.

Whites are dumb. Not quite windowlicking dumb, but pretty damn dumb. And they're vicious.

They're the "dumbest" of a the dragons, which means they have "average human" intelligence, approximately. Looking at D&D SRD, an Adult White for instance has 10 Int. Dumb when compared to other dragons, but only as dumb as we are comparatively.

I've always heard them described as more cunning than anything else. Meaning they may, just maybe if they put their heads to it posses the intelligence to come up with a clever scheme or plot like any other dragon... but they'd much rather kill you outright, and eat, and screw like animals. And who can blame them, really, if I had a shark fin on the top of my head, I'd prolly be pretty psychotic too.

Edit:
But their Wyrmlings and Young are animal dumb, I should add, having 6 Int. And their Great Wyrms having a measly 18, the max achievable by your "mundane" human. So I guess it depends on which age you catch them. <_<

White Dragons aren't dumb, they're just not as smart as other Dragons and they're the most animalistic of all the Dragons. Like you had said originally, they're "dumb" within the context of Dragons, but they're not in a general sense. They're pretty average, in terms of intelligence, generally speaking. They're not dumb, though. Dumb is Ogre, Blue Slaad, Gargoyle, Gray Render, Troll, etc., not a White Dragon.

Well I 'spose after the dragon's done another adventurer could arrive and stops it from killing the first, sacrificing his life so she can get away, or prehaps an epic lvl mage and fighter would cause the white to back off, tell me if I've misinterpretted the Draconomicon, but don't whites tend to leave alone fights they know they can't win.

Ture names are generally very difficult to find out, and it varies. You'd have to try researching one to really find out. I will say that you won't just find one scribbled on the wall of a bathroom stall :P

Yep.

Though I believe some outsiders are aware of their own true name or the that of other outsiders. I know Tempus is said to be the only one who knows the true name of Red Knight. And it's not exactly our cannon, but the Gate Keeper and Mephistopheles were aware of their true names in HotU.

But that's not to say they all do. And even if they did, it's something an outsider would probably never tell you by their own will, even upon threat of being destroyed. Because otherwise would mean being an absolute slave to your will.

For more on true-speak, check out the Tome of Magic. Excellent class in there (Truenamer) built around not only the proper nouns but verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and whole sentences that control the multi-verse. I'm not sure what percentage of rules Amia shares with it, but if you are looking for fluff, it is a good place to start.

But OK. There's truenaming to control a summoned outsider. Does this work for Upper plane outsiders, too?
I can also bargain and attempt to sway the creature with lure of wealth, Gold and Souls of innocent children?
...There has to be more ways to get it to serve? Can't you use some mumbo-jumbo spell and force it to obey you?

I think truenaming is strictly forbidden in amia. I remember 3 previous posteés being flamed by Tormak about it.

I can't willingly explain it and not breach the above.

think of it as a key to the soul, and you may be onto something.

>_> srsly I can't say more than that its far too top secret, moreso than harpers.

ie I refuse to spoil the epicness that is truenaming incase a dm ever decides to make use of it.

(I also don't know the details but I do know what it can do O_o)

It's not a big secret. Everything is assigned a Truename at its creation. If it is somehow made known, people who do know get to play marionette with absolutely everything about you.

btw: there's already limited forms of Truename magic available to Weave users. They're Power Word: Stun and Power Word: Kill.

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dn ... 03a&page=8

Enjoy.

1.) I just updated the wiki entry of Kohlingen, tidying it up a little, when I noticed that the form of government of Kohlingen was not assigned and I had no idea about it. Is Kohlingen an elective monarchy with the Justicar as it's chosen leader, or is it a democracy with regular elections, or is it perhaps even a theocracy? Really got me interested.

2.) Is this wiki entry correct?
Quote:
"Duke Montgomery is a human male who ruled over the city of Cordor for quite some time. He was a benevolent man at first, just and fair in his dealings. However, he began to tinker with demonic activities and eventually lost not only his compassion, but his very soul.

He, along with Earl Manfried, found the Necronomicon and attempted to use it. Duke Montgomery returned to Cordor insane and evil, while Earl Manfried became the undead he is today. When a fundraiser was held to help cure the plague that ravaged Cordor, the Duke stole the money and was subsequentily chased from town.

It was later revealed that the man who had thought to have been the duke was not him at all, the man had been replaced with a doppleganger early in his life for unknown reasons, the tendancy of the creature towards cruelty surfaced, and the rest became history.

Duke Montgomery d'Cordor, in fact, spent a quiet childhood in Comyr as a squire then purple knight. He fought as a war wizard extensivly in the variouse wars against the thayans and zhenthians."

so a white dragon could in theory be prone to 'playing with his food'? (for lack of a better term)

prone? I think they take extreme pleasure in it! Just think of a cat - They're enjoying playing with mice and rats... Just think of humans as mice, and the dragon as a HUGE FIREBREATHING FLYING MONSTER CAT!

justicar is described in the book "complete warrior" and is restricted to any lawful (note, not restricted to good/evil)

there is however a particular NPC on amia somewhere that takes the title of this prestige class as...well, a title. which is why I am unsure of how to answer the question.
