I want input on the current state of Edonil/the UD. Every player who has something to say about how things stand down there, what needs improvement, and how they'd see that improvement come about should toss me a PM. Your opinions will be treated as beyond top-secret, and I won't disclose them to anyone. I simply want to get a general idea on what UD players think, want, like, and dislike.

I'll be done with exams by this weekend, your opinions and input will help me decide what might need doing/changing once I pick up my client-side activities. You may consider this a survey of sorts, the more opinions I get, the better.

Thank you in advance, and see you in my PM box. No replies here, please.

Oh and.. seeing I've made an IC post about some of this stuff as my character before this post, I don't think or at least I hope that nothing dramatic came out of my slip up. It bothers me that I messed this up a bit, but not much was said OoC that isn't known commonly IC by the general public (at least if they keep their eyes and ears open).

Help Get the houses back in order. Encourage Politics by giving township underdark powers to struggle against, a reason for factions to forgive each other or see doom and destruction.

When ever something big happens you see all the players come back out of inactivity.

How to encourage players from getting out of their inactivity -Without- luring them with a bait?

Gonna break this down for you guys.
You broke the underdark up in two segements - Drow and 'Other underdark races'. You built a city far far away from the main trade port where the 'Other underdark races chill, and expect them to come over to you.
The 'Other underdark races' expect you to come over to them.

Conclusion
Nobody goes any fucking where. For you have successfully split the underdark.
I'm a bit tired of the UD community -Failing- to understand this. You don't need more events, Nor resources. You just need to be on the same place as the rest of the underdarkers and RP -will- flourish.

Good to see someone agrees with me.

These aren't 2005's summer holidays in Udos Dro'xun: being trapped in the mindset of "Lolth's way or the highway" doesn't work anymore.

Actually it seems like the tolerance and not going lolths way or the highway has participated in the decline this time.

No steadfast rules of behavior or what's expected of people. What customs are to be observed and what aren't. Who's in charge, who listens to who. What curtesies are non negotiable and which would be nice or don't matter at all.

Not going to do a full debate here, not purpose of this thread. You've stated your opinion, I've stated mine, let's leave it at that ok :)

*rubs hands wickedly and writes a flametastic pm to Tranny!*

I'm not sure if you guys agree or not, but here's my two pennies on the current setup (not that I have logged on in ages). Edonil doesn't seem to have a soul, whereas Udos and Ultrinnan did. I can't put my finger on it, but I could not locate a "city soul". I'm not sure if this is because those drow who were active at the time had to find such a remote location, or if the DMs were unable to communicate with the drow playerbase about the possibilities of L'Obsul, but I think location and the sheer -massiveness- of the city is really dragging rp down.

In a zomghuge city, three people RPing is kind of lame. :P

I think, like the Druids do for Amia Forest, we need to make L'Obsul's main tavern on Jas, the RP hub. To that effect, if all players, epics especially, gather there, then its more likely, even drow from Edonil, will go there, looking for RP.

I too, don't like the fact that the Drow decided to hive off with their own city, thus splitting the underdark rp in half, but it is what it is. There's no rule saying they can't come to L'obsul though, for RP but unless we have a dedicated RP hub, with dedicated "Other race" Underdarkers meeting there most days for RP, there's no incentive for them to come visit.

There's also a real mechanical/balance problem in that you get more for less, on the surface. So for instance, you can fight Duergar, in the UD, who are tougher than She-Kats and give less XP, OR you can go and easily slaughter spiders up there, and get well over 40xp per kill. This creates a mechanical disincentive, to adventure in the Underdark.

There's a big gap in the Underdark, between levels 12 to 15, for adventuring (without a party) so there needs to be something between the Duergar and Cave Creepers for people to go through, in level progression. There's also a serious lack of epic areas, other than the Contested Caves, pushing you once again, to the surface lands.

There could be an epic underwater zone, that links to Olog's (Troll caves) fishing platform, that could link to Sahuagin and Kuo-toan areas. That'd be fun and give Underdarkers a chance to access more epic adventure areas...you don't even need to build a separate Sahuagin area, just add an underwater portal to the existing area...

I personally, would like to see the Kuo-toans, made into an epic foe, on part with Sahuagin or Firegiants (the low level epic range).

There needs also, to be some hidden shops or epic shops or something, buried deep in some hidden vault in the UD to give us access to some unique UD specific gear (our equivalent of the Gauntlet or Abyss store?).

Some hidden areas down here, would also be nice...perhaps a puzzle that needs to be solved, to access it? Or maybe a quest....

And scrolls! We have to venture to the surface, IF we want better scrolls...(Mystran tower shop), why?

Just as there is no rule against other UD:ers in Edonil bar (Iniquity) which we even encourage others to come. You might have RP to not to come there, but so some drow have RP not to come to L'obsul.

No one said UD is kindergarden. If your character finds it in RP sense better to go to the (lorewise scary) surface, then why doesn't he do that? You van level to max in the UD. It's fine as it is.

You go there just for the loots, and nothing tells you to haul loots. If your char is mostly in the UD or wants to stay in UD, but "needs epic loot" I find no flaw in finding "rare and powerful" loots from surface, that are (should be) different from the items found in UD. It works' just fine. We don't want epic loot grinders to UD, we want RPers. *wink*

I don't like the idea.

To this I agree. But maybe there is already and you just don't know. ;)

I like the idea a lot, and would give my support to this. Natural occuring caves taht are hard to access, of man made hidden ones either way.

No.

There is no major arcane faction / thingy in the UD. Also, you can ask wizards to make scrolls. There are plenty of those in UD.

The intention of Templar was surely not to start yet again a not-so-new-at-all-discussion.

And if you're so eager, please use another thread.
