Can you point me at any discussion of why that was done?

More importantly, can you show us the evidence for the mobs have a low enough fortitude that Wail is actually useful? My epic necromancer who's level 29, can cast two wail's in a room in an epic dungeon (seriously, pick one), and maybe one or two monsters will die out of the entire spawn.
I won't even get into Zanshibon, since it is actually appropriately the "fuck casters" place.

"If you're a Wiz17 or Sorc18 and running with a level 12 or 13, then the first few mobs are pretty much doomed." Yeah, it really stops being much cop later on. That's fine by me; having the ability too whack about half a rest interval's mobs without doing much is dirty, so I don't mind that it's not a trick with much legs.

As all casters should know already! Lol, I didn't mean buffing as well. I meant casting things on the enemies in any way; between ultra saves and SR, they're pretty much immune to spells.

My mage can walk through Zanshibon with her summon/familiar and trounce it. There's literally no area (to my knowledge) that a mage can't solo.

Negative Energy Burst is one of my favorite spells, because the STR drain cannot be saved against. Works wonders in the Abyss. Especially when your mage has high AC.

This is easiest to do as a Necromancer, honestly. Skeleton familiar + Mummy are immune to a lot of things and can be healed via NEBs whilst damaging the enemies, such a tactic sucks doing Vampires, though.

The "Normal" Amian epic spawns, even the ones you did (or at least I assume you did) normally have double the adjustment on Fortitude compared to the other saves.

I retract my earlier statement... i was attacked by a near epic lv melee character yesterday and i killed him dead with one finger of death. Was not even a contest... i love finger of death.

Yeah but what was the rolls? Did he roll a one? Cause that's instant death unless you have Death Ward or Shadow Shield.
