I am going to have a look at the banking system. The system in which you can use receipts has a big bonus: you can actually trade items without having to go to the bank yourself. However, it has a drawback: I can never be sure who has the ticket and therefore I cannot add some kind of account management system (like cleaning out your storage list).
So, what I want to know is how often the trade system is used. If most people just use banking as an extension of their inventory I'll dump the ticket system and just let you do your own business at a bank.

I personally only use it as an inventory extension. And then, usually only as temporary storage for something heavy and job system, which I've stocked up on while awaiting other materials that are perhaps harder to come by.
I'd prefer if teh job system trader job was modified into something everyone could use, with a spawnable storage chest into which we could put/retrieve inventory items. As in, not *just* job system items, and not just a certain type of job system items, and no job points required for it.

It's a completely different system. The job storage just counts the number of job items and generates whatever you need based on a single number. The bank stores real objects, which takes a lot more resources.
I guess I could make a Banker job, though, that can spawn the bank stuff for you.

I think the problem with making a "banker" job-system job, is that it would likely hinder rp, more than help it. At least as far as job system rp goes.
I suspect most people who take it would do so for the inventory management bonus it would provide, and that there would be absolutely no rp involved with it. And, but requiring job skill points to take the job, players would not be able to take another job that they might otherwise have taken as part of their job-build/mix, which would mean that whether they would or would not have rp'd that now-lost job, now they outright cannot rp that, because they sacrificed it for this banker job. Confusingly written....but it makes sense, trust me!
I honestly think that this "bank" should be a non-job-point based system that anybody can use without investing job points. It would be an extreme convenience for us, the players, and presumably would reduce filesizes due to not having to have all of our inventories on our pc's at all times? Or would it? I don't know the answer to this, honestly.
But if it does reduce character filesize, and prevent things like dm's crashing the server or intense lag being caused, by opening the inventory of a merchant pc (for example), then I see this as a beneficial "general" system to put in place.
My best example as to why: My merchant pc is the type who opens and runs a player merchant stall, frequently. Not the epic-loot, sell over forums style (yet ). As such, I must have my stocks on me in order to set up the merchant stall. I'd likely take the banker job (if you make it a job) not for rp, but for teh inventory management bonus it'd offer me. My pc isn't a banker, so there'd be no *reason*
to rp as one - it'd be quite contrary to the pc. But the bonus provided would make it invaluable as a job to have, meaning I'd have to sacrifice some other job in order to fit it in - likely a job I *WOULD* otherwise have rp'd.
Make this a standard, non-job system, and that isn't a problem anymore.

I do not, but I know other people did, and I made that extra trip to swap out the bank ticket for the actual item prior to the sale as a "customer service feature" that was communicated to the buyer.
I think that although it was handy at times, the tickets mostly sat in my inventory doing nothing.
Another drawback was that the tickets didn't have any details about the item save for what you could tell from the name.
Finally, it would have been handy to have some sort of option on the rest menu to quickly list what you have in storage so you didn't have to mouseover every single ticket.
These are things that can be fixed, obviously. But the other thing is, not a lot of people use the system because they either don't know about it, don't realise the potential uses of it (e.g. store gear for particular locations, so you're not constantly carrying half a dozen gearsets around) or it doesn't present to them a significant advantage over using the inventory.
I like it, and I think I'd use it more frequently if it didn't fill my inventory with little tickets that I have to sift and sort through every time I want something back...

I've had it once used when something was given to me and I had to go 'pick it up'.
I don't find use for the banking system. *shrugs*
If I can't shove it on my character, then I figure I need to clean up my inventory. Or I'm comfortable suffering the speed reduction as is a current case.

Yes. Once I implement direct vault access your tickets will become useless, though. The only potential fuck-up is when you gave a ticket to somebody else and remove the corresponding item from your account. That means the owner of the ticket can't withdraw the item he's entitled to.

So to clarify once youve made your changes
1. What is stored is stored you dont need the ticket to get it out anymore so you may as well bin them save space and cut lagg (two thumbs up)
2. If you have a ticket from another player cash it in because once you do what your goning to do the person that stored the item gains access and the person with the ticket has an expensive, yet not very effective, hankie.

Indeed.
Quoted for effect.. also *two thumbs up* Ive always liked to see a banking system in place, carrying so much gold makes very little sence ic as it is HEAVY.

Yay, stocks and shares fraud!

I think this is the item banking system, not for gold...though a bank for gold would make a lot of sense, too, as who would really carry about millions of gold on their person at any one time?

For gold "Storage", I should think just having a building mock-up of a bank in a couple places, but not actually removing the gold from your inventory, should suffice.
Anyone who genuinely would use the bank should have no problem rping going there to get the gold for a large purchase, and those who won't choose to rp it, are likely the same people who just outright wouldn't have used it even if it was an actual functional bank.
Not to mention that removing the gold from your inventory would make death even less potentially painful, with no chance to lose *any* gold on death, as opposed to the small amount you can lose currently with a respawn.

Why would you store your gold? It doesn't weigh anything, and doesn't take any inventory space.
Because you are scripting a pickpocket that functions off percentage of gold held without implementing the thing that makes rich people less effected by pickpockets specificall BECAUSE they do not have 195,000,000 in their pocket.
Aso lets us make gold on respawn uncapped instead of capped at the paltry 40k. Should have used the bank.

IF you were out to drain money, you'd take money from the pickpocket victim but not give it to the pockpocketer. This is more one way money shuffling, with no ability from the victim to defend themselves even if they catch the PPer. This is why picpocketing is terrible, and if you honestly think PC ICly RP having all their money on them then I suppose I have nothing else to say other than it's pretty unfair to fuck people over like this.
And if you were after money, then un cap the gold on respawn already.
I mean what happens when some level 10 schmuck gets lucky, pickpockets Prescia and ends up with 5 million gold? You have a pissed off Prescia OOC and a player who has now basically been twinked. Yay.

Urrr - when did I say I am going to let you steal huge amounts of cash from people? I actually integrated something in the new pickpocket system that generates items on the fly, so you can steal stuff like "Torin's dirty handkerchief" on a low roll, or "Torin's Fat Wallet" on a high roll. That sorta stuff costs the victim between 1 and 1000 gold, and lowbies are off the hook. I doubt that breaks the bank.

is that even wise to let people pickpocket a ton of gold from people
as you said with no place to store gold assuming its at 1%, some people could lose 250k a shot, and noone could lift 250k off a player and them not notice IC
after reading the thread this new pickpocket system is going to be so exploitable.
