Adding a Hak that doesn't do anything probably wont help numbers increase or stay the same, I came back to see what's new, dissapointing.

Give a little faith and patience will you? Everything involving the making and implementing of this hak has been thoroughly thought-out.
The Lord chicken actually made us a module which presents everything that's new but not yet functional as said in that quote.
Look here, page 18, post nr 7. You'll find a link to the module that you can download and explore to see the contents.

I found the RaR download to be easiest. Just make two folders, and voila!

Download the 7zip
Open your NWN directory
Open the 7zip
Highlight the two folders in the 7zip
Drag them to the NWN directory
Tell Vista that it is allowed to merge the folders.

It does do stuff. Just not yet* because they're testing. The minute the switch is thrown to give players access, it is like loosing the dogs of war. One can not put them back in the cages. There is no return.
Have to be sure the sheer fact that they're here doesn't reduce player numbers. From what I've seen over the past few days at prime time USA numbers have been decent, but that is observation and not statistical data. Disco is collecting that but it takes time to sample that.

To put it into perspective, mister 57, we're already having to fix certain bugs that placing the hak by itself in the mod has caused, even inactively. I think you misread what you quoted.
You can't make changes to a mod this big an automatically have everything work perfectly the first day you plop them in.

Umm... not sure what you should do with a 2da file. Follow teyhse steps:
1. You download the amia_hak.exe file
2. You double-click it
3. When it asks if this is to be trusted you say "Yes"
4. When it asks "Do you want to install Amia hak?" you say "Yes"
5. The program now runs, and shows some progress bar.
That should do the trick.

In all fairness, the self-installer does not seem to work with Vista, atleast not on my comp. Download and open is all fine and dandy, but after clicking 'yes', the box goes away, and nothing happens.
This is probably more an issue with Vista Retardation than the self installer though.

Wait for 60 seconds after hitting OK. It worked on Vista Ultimate x64, but took a bit to 'fire up' after hitting the Yes button. It vanished, then the bar appeared and copied the files.

My vista had no issues either, running 64 bit home version. And I truly appriciate the .exe as I really do not like meddling around with files and folders.

Not sure if this means anything but... I have vista (32bit) and the first time (when the test module was fist available) the self installer did work. It did seem to take a little while (perhaps a minute or maybe two) where nothing appeared to happen and then the bar opened up and I got the 30%... 50% done messages. However, since then with the subisquent updates to the hak, the self installer has not worked on that system again. I have been using the .rar file and extracting the .hak files to the /hak folder and the .tlk file to the /talk folder. Also double checked to make sure they did not create there own little sub folder which sometimes happens.
My other system which is XP seems to work just fine with the self installer so far.

I really doubt that established players will decrease but in this test to see possible losses take a look at new player sign in statistics closely. Older players may leave but I do not think they will over the hak but as usual other issues like RL issues.

Hey Disco, could you just backup everything and implement the Haks now and if it is decided its not working to just use the backups? Or would that cause another problem with the player files with new players and/or players advancements with the haks?

Once items get into player's inventories there are a few options:
1. I don't give a fuck and revert and any character with new items is corrupted.
2. I revert to the last backup of your characters and a few weeks of loot and levels goes through the drain.
3. I do it as I planned.
Take your pick?

Doesn't sound like the hak honestly, since none of the stuff is implemented. Just the HAK check to see if you have it, and that isn't much data at all.

Your internet company may be fiddling with things, when that happens, it takes until they finish. I've had this happen to me for an entire day (no connection possible at all) and it gradually got better until it was back to normal.

Vista Notes: Because of how Vista operates with user access controls and other programs running you should place your Amia_hak.exe in the NwN folder, right click and left click the tab "Run as administrator". When using the installer you may notice a delay between confirmation of wanting to install the HAK/TLK pack, and the actual installation. Just wait a few moments and it should kick.

Oh and i'm told that the delay is a file path problem between programs written for XP and Vista. If you place the hak.exe in your NwN folder it seems to elimate the delay (tested).

It's a bit of a bugger to find out what causes the connection delays. People apparently had some of the issues before we installed the HAK, BioWare has been messing with their servers two days ago, there are also a lot of windows updates waiting and whining (I don't dare to install them without Mags on stand-by), etc.
First check: try direct connecting to circumvent GS.

Yes, if no new fixes need to be implemented only once.
The things for characters will be available after we know we will stick with haks and everything has been properly tested, as if we revert back and characters already have these, there would be a big problem.

Anyway, this seems to work. Shame you lot can still ignore my wise words, but alas.
Which actually gives me a very good idea! Instead of the number on the chicken's portrait I should add a simple sum and give you say 10 different answers as options. No good answer: no entry.
